Nothing says classic Route 66 quite like a gleaming set of pink Cadillac Fins. This pair of beauties was captured at the 2017 Albuquerque Museum Car Show in Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. “Ain’t they fine?” I love to photography car shows for the color spectacle they offer the photographer’s lens. Now, what lens do you think I shot this image with? A top of the line Canon L Series lens? Maybe one of Nikon’s renowned telephoto zoom lenses? Well, the truth is this was shot with a vintage Tokina RMC 35-135mm F:4-4.5 from 1978 I purchased used on eBay for $5.00. Yep.
What makes this image special is the attention paid to details in post-processing. I used the Deconvolution sharpening in Piccure+ to sharpen the image. It uses sophisticated algorithms to correct lens flaws and reverse the blurring introduced by the lens and camera. Finally, I edited the colors with the Viveza 2 Photoshop plugin. With some careful post-processing you can do wonders with cheapskate photography gear! Photo by Don Peterson.
