This photo shows a moody winter sunset in Old Town, Albuquerque, New Mexico. Old Town comprises about ten blocks of historic adobe buildings, which surround Old Town Plaza in Albuquerque, New Mexico. It is Albuquerque’s oldest district. Today, it is a shopping and tourist destination. Many of the buildings in Old Town are residences that were converted into restaurants, shops, and art galleries. It is a great place to soak in a bit of New Mexico history and culture.
Camera: Canon 20D DSLR camera and a manual-focusing 40-year-old Tokina SD 28-70mm F:3.5-4.5 lens (this is a Pentax mount lens used with a Pentax-Canon adapter . The 8-megapixel Canon 20D DSLR can be found on the used camera market for less than $100. This used Tokina zoom lens generally retails for about $20 or less on eBay. With a bit of practice, you can capture well-focused images with older manual focusing lenses, and save lots of money in the process.
I used the Topaz Labs Detail 3 Photoshop plugin to extract the maximum sharpness from this image. This plugin uses RL Deconvolution sharpening to reverse the tiny bit of blurring introduced by anti-aliasing filters that are in most DSLR cameras. This can make your photos look as if they were shot with very sharp professional lenses.
