Santa Fe is unforgettable. This is New Mexico’s most alluring city, and perhaps one of the most beautiful urban settings in the United States. It is a natural beauty. Its most appealing elements borrow from the rich history of its earliest indigenous cultures who give this city its timeless aesthetic. Santa Fe unique. No other city has such a passion for sun-baked Adobe and classic Pueblo-style architecture.
A day trip to Santa Fe, New Mexico offers a feast of visual delights best seen at an unhurried pace. Soak in the details. One of my favorite features of Santa Fe is the classic Adobe and wood gates that are a feature of many of the homes and galleries. They only look better with age. The photo above shows the entrance to a private residence on Canyon Road, Santa Fe, New Mexico’s famed street of galleries. The imperfections and signs of wear only add to its charm.
One of the most pleasant ways to spend an afternoon in Santa Fe, New Mexico, is by strolling along Canyon Road. The gracious Adobe homes of Canyon Road offer a world-class collection of art galleries as well as restaurants and boutiques. Canyon Road looks its best in the spring and summer months when the flowers are in bloom and the afternoon sun kisses the Adobe textures with a warm, comforting glow.

Part of Santa Fe’s charm is its location. Nestled into the foothills of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains, its rustic high desert setting is the perfect compliment for its Pueblo Revival architecture. This photo provides a glimpse of a courtyard behind an art gallery on Canyon Road. The Adobe textures seem perfectly matched to the panoramic mountain backdrop that gives it visual context.

Both of these photos were shot with the Canon 10D DSLR (6 megapixels) and the Tokina 19-35mm F3.5-4.5 lens. The Canon 10D can be purchased used on eBay for $75 or less and can produce excellent images. The Tokina 19-35mm F3.5-4.5 lens is a very capable vintage lens that generally sells for less than $100.
