The ruddy red rock of Jemez, New Mexico is the subject of the photo seen above. Framed by the beautiful New Mexico sky, this handsome setting is from The Jemez Mountain Trail, near the Walatowa Visitor Reception Center on the Jemez Pueblo. This is the only area of this historic Native American pueblo where visitors are freely allowed to take pictures. I was very happy about that, for it is truly camera worthy! Seeing this red rock vista for the first time is still an unforgettable experience! Be sure to stop by one of the Indian Fry Bread stands that dot this area for a tasty regional treat.

Along Old Route 66, near Bernalillo, New Mexico. ⇑

The second photo shows a scene from a section of the old Route 66 as it passes through through the town of Bernalillo, near Albuquerque, New Mexico. These old trucks were seen near sunset in a junk yard on Route 66 in Bernalillo. Route 66 here follows the much older El Camino Real, which linked the Spanish colonies 400 years ago. This modest town still retains much of its Route 66 charm and architecture. It is also home to some of the most highly regarded restaurants in all of New Mexico, including the Range Cafe (great for breakfast), La Casita and Prarie Star. You simply must try the authentic New Mexican cuisine that Bernalillo is famous for.
