West Broadway, Soho

West Broadway, Soho, New York City. This photo captures an afternoon on West Broadway, in the trendy Soho neighborhood of New York City. This setting reveals a bit of the look and feel of this stylish Manhattan neighborhood. The smaller scale of the buildings, and the charming details crafted into them date back to the late 1800′s. I like the late afternoon light in this photo as well. The midday glare is gone, and the natural light has begun to turn softer and more golden.
Although this photo was shot with my Samsung GX 1S DSLR, I converted the raw image to DNG and edited it using Capture One 6 by Phase One. I applied the ICC Color Profile for the Fuji S5 to this photo, giving it a color palette that is closer to the output from that camera. Fuji DSLR’s have a warm, vivid color profile that reminds me of Velvia film. Capture One makes it very easy to apply any DSLR color profile to the raw photo, regardless of what camera it is from. It’s a great way to tweak colors to personal taste.
