Times Square is for tourists, and for New Yorkers who don’t take themselves so seriously. Some New Yorkers like to show how jaded and world weary they are by looking down on mainstream attractions so popular with tourists. “Oh, why would you tell anyone to visit Times Square, it’s so touristy,” they say with an air of condescension. Well, that seems to me to be a perfectly good reason to visit Times Square! Most folks are not visiting New York to spend hours ruminating over the latest Jackson Pollock on display at the Guggenheim, they want excitement! Give them what they came for! Loads of greasy fast food, 20 story high billboards, and eyeball searing neon lights! Even a jaded New Yorker can find something to like in all that if they just relaxed a little!
