This photo shows a “slice of life” in Times Square, New York City. The setting is 42nd Street and 8th Avenue, near the Port Authority Building. Given the makeover of Times Square in recent years and its focus on family entertainment, this is about as gritty as it looks nowadays. Typically, it’s a mix of tourists, movie and theater-goers, and commuters. This image was captured on a mid-winter holiday when many New Yorkers had the day off.
