Sabrett Hot Dog Cart, 8th Avenue, New York City

Sabrett Hot Dog Cart Vendor, 8th Avenue, New York City ⇑
Hot dog vendor carts are a New York City institution. I was raised in New York City, and worked in Manhattan most of my adult life. Yet, I have eaten hot dogs from street vendors maybe two or three time in my entire life. The thought of buying hot dogs from a cart on the street just never appealed to me. Sabrett makes the hot dogs sold by most street vendors and by the two of my favorite hot dog “restaurants,” Grey’s Papaya and Papaya Dog. The Sabrett hot dog is long, thin, spicy-sweet, with a snappy smooth skin. They are New York’s finest hot dog. As a child, I remember my mother going to the Sabrett wholesaler in the Bronx and picking up a huge bag of hot dogs along with saurkraut, and onions with sauce. They were the foundation for many a Saturday cookout. Or, we would eat them as a family while watching the Ed Sullivan Show on a Sunday night. We watched the first appearance of The Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show while chomping on Sabrett hot dogs. Great memories!
