On The Pier, South Street Seaport

On The Pier, South Street Seaport. This downtown Manhattan (New York City) attraction offers a floating museum of old ships along with shopping, dining, and pleasant views of the East River waterfront. It is enormously popular with tourists. In addition to a nice assortment of restaurants in all price ranges, the Pier offers access to a number of commuter and sightseeing boats. It becomes quite busy during the summer when it hosts free concerts and special events. South Street Seaport offers a bright contrast to the rather stodgy Wall Street neighborhood that surrounds it.
