Motorcycles, New York City

Motorcycles, New York City. I have never thought of New York City as an ideal city for motorcyclists. The peak season for riding is short, and the roads are perennially in bad shape. Yet, I have noticed an increase in the popularity of this mode of transportation of late, as attested to by this photo captured in the youthful Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Is it a matter of economics or style? I think it is all about style. These pampered motorcycles are weekend fashion accessories on wheels, an adornment that is parked rather than worn. Camera: Canon 10D, Canon 50mm F1.8 II lens.
