Korea Town, New York City
This photo captures a view of 32nd Street in New York City, also known as Korea Way, the heart of Korea Town. Only two blocks from the Empire State Building, the majority of the block is home to Korean-centric businesses. The diversity of offerings – including restaurants, bars, clubs, karaoke bars, grocery stores – is staggering, and they don’t stop at the ground floor. Many places sit two, three or even four stories off street level. This creates for a unique landscape of signs towering above the street…like a mini Times Square of sorts. Constantly abuzz with traffic, it has an unmistakeably Korean personality. The older buildings on this street are full of character, adding to the visual cacophony of this self-sustaining city within a city block.
