Haggling on 28th Street, New York City
Haggling on 28th Street, New York City ⇑
The area around 26th-30th Streets between 5th & 7th Avenues in New York City contains a variety of street vendors selling everything from cell phone accessories to clothing. In this photo, a vendor is selling high-thread-count 100% cotton sheets from a stand setup on 28th Street. The group surrounding him appeared to be traveling together. From what I could discern of their accents, they appear to be from a Scandinavian country. They apparently chose the savviest English speaking shopper among them to haggle prices with the vendor for the whole group. She appeared to be getting her way as the vendor stood to make quite a number of sales from the group she represented. Is what they are purchasing really a bargain? That is the question! Typically, you can find pretty good bargains from street vendors if you know how to judge the quality of the product offered. I have often purchased scarfs, ties, hats, gloves, books, etc. from these street vendors. If you know what you are buying, you can often land a great deal!
