Chinese Restaurant

Chinese Restaurant

A Chinese restaurant in the Times Square area (8th Avenue) of New York City is the subject of this photo. If the beloved American painter Norman Rockwell lived in New York City today, this is what he would paint. A slightly gritty urban portrait of the urban workday as it is for many hard working New Yorkers. I approached this scene drawn to the character lines in the face of the Chinese gentlemen sitting on the bike. Capturing a patron of the restaurant as he emerged in the doorway adds an interesting element to this composition. Life, as it is, is seen in the faces of these men. This was shot with my favorite street photography combo: Canon 10D and Canon 50mm F1.8 II lens. I desaturated the colors and edited the contrast using Lucis Art Photoshop Plug-In for a grittier effect.
