Times Square, New York City’s billboard crazy neighborhood, takes what advertisers term a “call to action” and distills it into its simplest and most unambiguous form. “Buy this!” “Go here now!” “Grab some Buds!” Can the message be any clearer? Because this is Times Square, a billboard must shout at the top of its lungs to be heard. And few billboards bark their commands louder than Bud beer! To insure that the dull of mind get the point, the next panel shows an ice cold Bud in the obligatory “drink this now” position. That poor Dunkin Donuts billboard cowers in the shadows, outshouted and outshined by its bigmouthed, beer swilling buddy. Art imitates life . . .
