8th Avenue, Times Square

8th Avenue, Times Square. This photo shows vivid street colors on 8th Avenue in Times Square (near 39th Street), New York City, during an overcast sunset. The “star-effect” on the lights comes from using a small lens aperture (F:16) for the exposure. I used a tripod for this capture, and the shutter speed was slow enough to create a stream of light from moving vehicles as they passed. This time of day, right around sunset, will produce colorful images as the residual light in the sky mixes with the colors of street lighting. Camera: Canon 10D, Tokina 19-35mm lens.
