Times Square, 42nd Street Billboards at Night, New York City ⇑

When it comes to advertising and billboards, New York City’s Times Square is like a thousand butterflies constantly emerging from cocoons with a myriad of colors and patterns. Few billboards (or spectaculars as they are called in the ‘ad biz’) last longer than a month. This photo shows a billboard for Palm PDA’s occupying a key position on 42nd Street between 7th and 8th Avenues, a popular route for commuters using the Port Authority Bus Terminal. My personal favorites remain the billboards erected by Target Stores, seen in the background of this shot. Target consistently has some of the most tasteful and artistic ads in Times Square, and are a pleasure to view.
