Jemez Mountains, New Mexico

The Jemez Mountains in New Mexico is one of those places that you love all the more each time you return. It is where I saw a herd of elk in the wild for the first time. I can still remember seeing and hearing their breath as these powerful creatures exhaled into the crisp winter air of the Valles Caldera. Thrilling! Beyond that, the amazingly diverse landscape of this area, ranging from high desert to snow capped mountain peaks is endlessly captivating.
