I visited Exchange Place, in Jersey City, New Jersey recently for the first time in more than six years. I am amazed at the development this area has seen in that time. Exchange Place is known for its concentration of financial sector businesses, and, in many ways is an extension of the Wall Street, NYC business district. I have always admired the magnificent views it has of the New York skyline. Although, I must say that the views from downtown Brooklyn are made more dramatic by the adornment of the Brooklyn and Manhattan bridges.

The boardwalk along the Exchange Place harbor is a great place to view the NYC skyline, and has seating near the Path Train station. Although the area is becoming more residential, it suffers a paucity of restaurants and cafes made worse on the weekends when everything is closed. Bring a brown bag lunch or dinner and enjoy the views on a pleasant spring or summer day.

Camera: Canon Rebel XS, Sigma 24-70mm F3.5-5.6 HF lens. This was a perfect day for shooting, with partial cloud cover that softens the suns glare and lightens shadows, creating beautiful light conditions. I am really enjoying the Canon Rebel XS. Although it is currently discontinued, and was Canon’s lowest priced DSLR, it can produce pro quality images. The results were superb even with the budget priced Sigma lens used for these photos.
