Cherry Blossom trees add joyous color to a beautiful spring day during the 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival in Branch Brook Park, Newark , NJ. Cherry trees, known as Sakura in Japan, plays a significant role in the Japanese culture. The cherry blossoms are edible, and are used as food ingredients in Japan. Most Japanese schools and public buildings have cherry blossom trees outside of them. Since the fiscal and school year both begin in April, in many parts of Honshū, the first day of work or school coincides with the cherry blossom season.
