Cherry Blossoms, Branch Brook
The 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival starts next week in Branch Brook Park, Newark, NJ. However, I stopped by today to capture a few photos of the early blooming trees. They should peak just in time for the festival. But if you can’t wait (like me) here are a few preview pics. To see the latest 2010 Cherry Blossom Festival, Branch Brook Park photos, click here.
Sunny days with rich blue skies make for beautiful cherry blossom photos. They look great against a blue background (use a polarizer to deepen the blue color). And, there will be enough light to use high shutter speeds that freeze motion (cherry blossoms are constantly in motion in the slightest of breezes). I like to use a wide aperture to get a nice background blur and a more artistic feel to the shot. Also, it is good to pay attention to the background colors. Make sure they compliment the subject you are shooting.
This is Branch Brook Park Too!
While Branch Brook Park is best known for its Cherry Blossom Festival (and rightfully so) it is also a marvelous visual treat during the fall season. The colors can be quite intense, and it is a wonderful time to visit the park. Yes, this is Branch Brook Park too!
