South Mountain Chuckwalla

South Mountain, Phoenix, Arizona Lizard.Chuckwalla. ⇑

The South Mountain Park / Preserve in Phoenix, Arizona is a rambling desert mountain preserve chock full of interesting desert creatures. If you look carefully, you will see hawks, javelinas, coyote’s, rabbits, and snakes and lizards of various form. I think this particular fellow is a chuckwalla, but I am not sure. My New York City roots badly qualify me for accurately identifying desert ‘critters.’
