Saguaro Sunset, Papago Park

Papago Park, Red Rock & Saguaro at Sunset, Phoenix, Arizona. ⇑

This photo, showing an old saguaro cactus during sunset in Papago Park, Phoenix, Arizona is one of my favorite images from the years I lived in Arizona. It was an early winter evening, the weather was perfect and the light of sunset had warm blue hues that my camera can only hint at. This image says all that Arizona means to me.

The unique appeal of Papago Park is the contrast between its accessible urban setting and its other-world beauty. I captured this image using an Olympus E-300 with the kit 14-42mm kit lens. I used a circular polarizer to bring out the blue colors in the sky and shot using a tripod. I edited the image in Adobe Lightroom, and tweaked the saturation levels to bring it closer to my memory of this scene. I have seen a number of amazing sunsets in Papago Park!
