I discovered this beautifully lit rusted old farm machinery along the old Route 66 as it meanders near the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. I was in a bit of a rush to make it to Flagstaff before sunset (wishful thinking), but had to stop when I saw this scene. Since it was located on private property in a state where lots of people own guns . . . I respected the boundaries of private property and used my Tamron 70-300mm telephoto zoom on my tripod mounted Nikon D40 to capture this image from the side of the road. This scene was one of the final images captured from a thrilling day spent exploring natural features on both sides of the New Mexico-Arizona border. It brings back wonderful memories of the rugged beauty of this part of the Southwestern United States.
