Route 66, Arizona, Sand Drag Sign at Sunset. ⇑

This photo shows an old Sand Drag sign captured in beautiful sunset light on Old Route 66 near the Petrified Forest National Park in Arizona. Although I was eager to make it to Flagstaff (Arizona) before sundown, I had to stop and capture this beautiful light and setting. I’m glad I did! This is one of my favorite images captured on the road. This area, near the Arizona, New Mexico border has striking expanses of flat land. Petrified Forest National Park is a “must see” attraction if you are traveling in this area. There are a few interesting Route 66 relics found along the road in this area as well. I shot from the side of the road near my car, and used the my telephoto lens to zoom in. I am very careful not to trespass on private property when shooting this type of photo.
