Is It A Hasselblad?
Okay, here is a shot of a single flower, beautifully lit, and perfectly captured by the lens. What did I use to shoot this image? A Hasselblad, or some other high-end digital camera?

Phoenix, Arizona does not have much in the way of historic architecture. It is a city that tends to quickly destroy the old to make way for the new. Here is one exception, Rosson House, a classic Victorian style home built in 1895. It sits on its original foundation, and serves as a museum currently in Phoenix’s downtown Heritage Square. I photographed Rosson House on a typical hot summer evening. Normally, summer light is harsh and bad for photography. However, the evening golden hour (the hour surrounding sunset) yielded some pleasant, warm tones perfect for this setting. Photo by Don Peterson.

Okay, I am crazy about cherry blossoms! I am not ashamed of that! Every spring (when possible), I have attended the Annual Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival held in Branch Brook Park, Essex County, NJ. With over 4000 cherry blossom trees in 16 varieties, it is the largest collection of these beautiful trees in the United States. Cherry blossoms are also one of my favorite photographic subjects. Well, I thought to myself, could I combine my passion for cherry blossoms and photography with my occupation, web design? Yes, I can! Yes, I have!
One of the most beautiful natural events in all of New York/New Jersey occurs every spring. The (2013) Annual Essex County Cherry Blossom Festival is a joy to behold, and a most pleasant introduction to the spring season. The dates for this years event are April 6-20th, 2013. This is a must see event if you in the New York/New Jersey area this spring. Branch Brook Park, the home of the Cherry Blossom Festival has more than 4,000 cherry blossom trees, and the greatest variety of trees in one location in the United States. I have always enjoyed photographing this event. This photo was taken at last years event, and shows early season cherry blossoms blooming on a misty day. Photo by Don Peterson.
Here are New Yorkers doing what they do best on a summer’s day. This photo shows a West Side restaurant on a Saturday afternoon. Cool. Photo by Don Peterson
This is to my eye, one of the most inviting signs of spring. Beautiful pink (and white) cherry blossoms swaying slightly in a gentle breeze on a balmy spring day! These are a few of my favorite photos of fall (Autumn) foliage in brilliant color! This is one of my favorite times of the year for photography. The color can be amazing. Fall colors can also be a challenge to photograph well. While our eye can easily capture the full range of light and color on a sunny fall day, our camera has much greater limitations. Many times, the range of light values from light to dark are simply too much for the camera sensor to capture, and fall images are often disappointing as a result. Here are a few simple tips to improve your fall foliage photography with any camera:
